Lucy, 3 years Female Dane/Boxer / Great Dane  Mix   Click on picture to enlarge Apply To Adopt Lucy is a 3 year old spayed female Boxer/Great Dane mix. She was returned as she was too depressed because she missed her dog friends from the place where she originated and was not taking well to being the only dog. She is doing well in her foster home, eating and playing with the other dogs, so at this time we will only consider an adopter who has at least one other dog. She is house trained and up to date on vaccines. We prefer an experienced owner as she is a large breed dog. Lucy2, 10 years Female Yellow Labrador Retriever   Click on picture to enlarge Apply To Adopt Lucy2 (so called because we have another Lucy) is a very sweet ten year old dog who is available for adoption. Her family sadly had to give her up due to an unexpected arrival of twins, plus a preschooler in the house. They tried to hang onto her, but felt it wasn't fair to her and that she might find a quieter home. She's GREAT with kids, dogs, cats. She's in good health but stiff in her back legs due to having the cruciate ligaments replaced in both back legs. We think she's be great in any home, but ideally a quiet home, maybe some retirees who have visiting grandchildren who don't want to have to deal with puppy training or dogs with high exercise needs. Some of the pups were poisoned by a neighbor so the caretakers contacted a local rescue woman to take them. The pups are cute, friendly, playful and sweet natured. They played all day with two younger children aged 5 and 6 and were great with them, even barking if the boys went near the road. Smart pups. She's really sweet, loves attention, has lots of energy, plays with other dogs and would probably be great with another dog as she just will play and play. Scooby, 2 years old Male Yellow Labrador Retriever  Mix Click on picture to enlarge Apply To Adopt Scooby is a young adult male yellow lab who was being mistreated and neglected by his Tennessee owner. He was tied to a tree and had no dog house. He is not at all aggressive with dogs or people...... just a little afraid. At first he would not eat out of a bowl, but would eat if hand fed! He was being fed table scraps and knew nothing about dog food. Now that he's been in foster care, he's been terrific. He loves the water and loves to play with other dogs. AJ, 1 year Male Collie / Shepherd  Mix   Click on picture to enlarge Apply To Adopt Wonderfully active/beautiful black border collie mix 1 year plus, totally housetrained, smart as a whip, comes when called, not a counter surfer, no food issues, not a chewer, knows several commands, loves all people and animals. Will chase squirrels all day long, but quiet inside and loyal like only a dog can be. This boy needs an active lifestyle with people who can appreciate his need for movement! Still a touch mouthy but that behavior will go away with maturity. Does not need a crate, loves riding in the car. Does shed, needs to be brushed to control the shedding. A wonderful dog for the right family! He went to work with his previous owner and was a perfect gentleman! Don't judge him by his picture. Snickers, 4 months Female Fox Terrier mix Click on picture to enlarge Apply To Adopt Snickers was found as a stray by in woman in TN. She is aprox. 4 months old and weighs about 20 lbs. The woman who found her requested she be put to sleep, as she had demodex mange and the woman did not want to pay for her treatment. As soon as the vet took Snickers, she immediately started to lick her hands and face. Because of Snicker's sweet disposition, the vet could not go through with the procedure, and requested a local dog rescue place her in a forever loving home. Snickers has been treated for her mange, is up to date on shots, and has been wormed and spayed. She is very playful, very friendly and is ready and eager for a family of her own. Weston, 1 - 2 years old Male Golden Retriever Click on picture to enlarge Apply To Adopt Weston is a male Golden Retriever and weighs around 60-65#, is 1-2 yrs old and a really nice dog. He was neutered on June 16th. He is very friendly with people or other dogs. He is fine in the car, used to being inside and if walked regularly, has no accidents. He is super friendly....got in the car as soon as the animal rescue worker stopped and opened the door! He was found running down a 4 lane highway so the rescue worker stopped, opened her door, and he jumped right in. He was loaded with ticks so had been living outside or running for awhile. He likes being inside where it's cool and loves loves attention. He has an occasional limp from an old injury. The vet doesn't think it's anything to be concerned over, but his adopters might want to check it out. It doesn't slow him down. He will jump up on you for attention, but can be taught not to do that. Because of the jumping, we suggest no children under ten as he could probably knock a small child down. He will be arriving from TN in mid-July and after a brief quarrantine will be available for adoption. No phone calls please as many of our volunteers are on vacation and those of us who are not need to work on getting the dogs already with us placed. Thanks for your consideration. Katie, 3 years Female Golden Retriever / Chow  Mix Click on picture to enlarge Apply To Adopt Katie is a 3 year 5 month Golden-chow mix. When you call her by her nickname Kissey Katie, KKKKatie, she gets all excited, and will try to wrap her body around your legs and go in between to get extra pats. She is with her owner so does not attend the "meet and greet" events. Private appointments will be made once we receive your application. She was not raised with kids and is nervous around small children, so no small children, please. She will come close to you when little kids are around. If you tell her its okay and the kids are gentle she will let them pet her for a minute. She has always been this way since day 1. Katie is very protective of the car and house when no one is around she will bark and look crazy. Katie is head strong so she would be better with someone who has had dogs before. She is a little pushy with other dogs ( like a typical female retriever) at first after told to play nice does fine. Katie loves to kiss everyone people and dogs alike. She isNOT good with cats.
