News Flash to all our adoptive pet owners!
Increased Scrutiny of Flea and Tick Control Products for Pets
The EPA is currently reviewing 44,000 complaints that were filed last year
concerning potentially dangerous – and sometimes deadly – "spot-on" flea and
tick products for pets. Please use the links provided below to read up on the
situation and to protect your beloved pets!

Please Don't let them take my voice away!
A MA state bill would ban the cruel practice of cutting vocal cords to stifle
barking or meowing. Devocalization is painful, risky-and doesn't benefit
the animal in any way. These pets are given up just like any other.
Powerful lobbies are fighting this humane legislation, but you can help
protect animals if you act now. Urge your state rep and senator (not
those in DC) to support An Act Prohibiting Devocalization, H.344.
Tell them you'll be following the bill. Call back periodically until it passes.
To find your state legislators, call: 800-462-8683.

Dogs Who Need Sponsors
The following dogs will incur medical expenses that will far exceed their adoption fees. Some have
dental needs, delicate spay operations for older female dogs, and mammary tumors that need to be
removed. Please help us to give these dogs the proper care before they are put up for adoption.
Thanks in advance!
DuchessDuchess is the mama dog to Doogie, Meme, and Smitty. She is being treated for heart worm and will need some sponsorship. The humane society where she is being treated has no funds. Once she recovers from her treatment and tests negative, she will be coming up for adoption. She's under 50 lbs.
Sponsors:
Sarah Drepanos
Margaret Mcdougall
Theresa Hamm

LOST! TonkaWe have had a third sighting of Tonka, so please don't give up on her! TONKA ESCAPED FROM HER ADOPTIVE HOME IN MILFORD ON CRICKET LANE. SHE WAS LAST SEEN IN UPTON ON EAST STREET NEAR CHRISTIAN HILL ROAD. SEARCH PARTIES ARE OUT POSTING POSTERS. IF YOU CAN HELP, PLEASE CALL SAVE A DOG AT 978-443-7282! THANK YOU AND GOD BLESS YOU FOR HELPING! Tonka is a youthful 12.5 year old English Shepherd mix and came to us from a dog sanctuary in WV. Tonka is spayed, weighs about 55 pounds, and acts like a young dog. Tonka is a very sweet and affectionate dog who loves attention and a good scratch behind the ears, or just laying by your feet while you watch TV or read. She gets along with all dogs and loves kids. She has no fears of men. She picks toys out of her basket and throws them around, which is very cute. She does not act her age at all, especially when she is running around at full speed doing play bows at you. This dog is just an absolute love. She is totally housetrained and she crates well but, does not need to be crated at all. She doesn't exhibit any arthritis at all. We believe that she is healthier because she was not given the extra vaccinations that can push a dog into early aging.

Save A Dog, Inc. is an all breed dog rescue and adoption agency. We take in dogs from high-volume
shelters and thus save them from being put to sleep.
We also take in dogs whose owners no longer want or who have been abandoned.
We incorporated as a 501c3 nonprofit in 1999 and we were the first dog rescue group in the Boston
Metrowest area to bring in dogs from states that have an over-population problem. We use foster
homes so that we can better evaluate the dog's personalities. We temperament test the dogs and
we try to make the best match for applicant and dog. We developed a health and temperament protocol
and quarantined our dogs long before it was it was state-mandated.
What sets us apart from all the dog rescue groups who have recently sprung up? We are not about
rescuing puppies to make a quick buck. We will not turn down special needs dogs and we'll spend
whatever it costs to save dogs who are truly in need. If we are going to bring in dogs from out of
state, we choose a mix of adult dogs slated for euthanasia as well as adolescent dogs who were
abandoned when they outgrew their cuteness. We love working with people who want to "save a dog" as
opposed to people who just want a cute puppy. We believe in educating our adoption community and
will send you home with extensive instructions on how to care for your new dog or pup as well as
recommendations for health and training. We have you sign an adoption contract that ensures the
dog will never again end up in a shelter. We spay and neuter the dogs prior to placement. Our dogs
are up to date on vaccinations, but we don't over-vaccinate as we know that this can lead to immune
deficiency problems and we will educate you about that. We use holistic care and homeopathy as our
primary medical protocol. We use positive reinforcement training for our dogs and we require that you
obedience train your dog using positive methods. We work with a select few out-of-state shelters who
we trust to give us healthy dogs that are friendly and adoptable. We have a good relationship with
these shelters and we help them out with donations for their special needs and hardship cases.
If you would like to meet our rescued dogs, please fill out an
application
or come to one of our local Meet and Greet events, listed on the
Events page. Also, if you fill out an
application, you can make a private appointment to see the dogs. Filling out an application is the
best way to express your interest as the dogs require our undivided attention during the day,
hence we tend to read emails after the dogs go to bed.
